“Red Light”
”Egg tempera” helped establish Teruko Yokoi’s painting style. From the early 1970s to the mid-1980s, Ms. Yokoi was strongly influenced by the abstract expression of the previous era, but later shifted to figurative expression such as flowers, trees, and seasonal landscapes, thus achieving the characteristic fusion of Japanese and Western painting This is a characteristic of Ms. Yokoi’s work.
This exhibition focuses on the important period of Ms. Yokoi’s career, when the changes in her expression became more pronounced and her painting style became more established, and on the important technique of “Egg tempera”.
