Teruko Yokoi
”Symphony of Droplets”

《November》
1976, lithograph on paper

One of the painting techniques that characterizes Teruko Yokoi’s style is “dripping”. In this technique, the brush is dipped in paint, and drops of paint are scattered and colored without the brush touching the painting. Ms. Yokoi first encountered this technique when she moved to the U.S., and he continued to use it in his painting for a long time.

This special exhibition features works in which “dripping” is used to great effect. As if a conductor were creating a variety of music from her baton, Ms. Yokoi’s brushstrokes produce vibrant rhythms, tones, and sparkles. We hope that many of you will enjoy their resonance.
